History

Year 1964 marked the beginning of a journey to influence a strong rising of the Mulund KDO Community – ‘Sarvoday’ (સર્વે નો ઉદય – Rising of All). Brainchild of Shree. Pratap Govindji Shah, Shree Kutchi Dasha Oswal Jain Sarvoday Mandal, Mulund was established for integrated welfare and development of the entire community.

In the early days, Sarvoday Mandal started with focus on Religious (Dharmik), Educational, (Shaikshanik), & Social (Samajik) activities. Sarvoday organized numerous events including Chaitraparipati, Bhakti Bhavna of Shree Mahakali Mathai ,Gawli Competition, etc. to bring the community members together and inculcate a sense of togetherness. A noble initiative of providing books free of cost to the students was undertaken to strengthen and encourage education in our community. With growing acceptance and popularity, it became essential for Sarvoday to find a Home. Consequently, in the year 1973, the then trustees took a prudent decision of acquiring ‘Shree Virji Jivraj Mepani hall’ – popularly known as the ‘Dev Punj’ Hall. Located in the heart of Mulund, Dev Punj hall became the base for all of Sarvoday’s activities, meetings & get-together.

Year 1988 marked another event of supreme significance – branching out of ‘Sarvodaya Mahila Vibhag’. Underscoring the need to empower the women, Sarvodaya Mahila Vibhaag is For the Women, Of the Women and By the Women. Masala Vitran, Recipe classes, cooking Competition, Vyakyan Aayojan, Matukdi competition are few of the activities Mahila Vibhag undertakes.

Over the years, Sarvoday Mandal played an instrumental role towards facilitation as well as management of all the Bhawnas and Pedhis held in Mulund. Mandal positively influenced several Individuals and families by providing monitory support to the needy students. Organizing blood donation camps to dandiya raas, calendar distribution to aiding Vasti Patrak publication, Mandal left no stone unturned in its efforts towards the betterment of society.

In 2014, Sarvodaya Mandal celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a befitting and momentous event – MEDAVO. A chapter in itself, MEDAVO revitalized the oneness spirit and the sense of belongingness in the minds of masses with events like marathon, car racing, cooking competition and numerous other sports competition. For the larger good of the community, Sarvodaya continues its march with focus on blossoming the Physical, Mental and Spiritual aspects of Human life.
